Matthias Schenkel completed his studies in Business Administration at the University of Saarland in Saarbrücken, majoring in business taxation, with Prof. Dr. Dr. hc. mult. G. Wöhe and Prof. Dr. H. Kußmaul and also auditing and trusteeship with Prof. Dr. K. Küting.

After completing his studies, Mr Schenkel worked for an international auditing company in Saarbrücken.

After passing the tax advisor examination, Mr Schenkel moved to Coblenz and became Managing Director of DR. DORNBACH & PARTNER GMBH after passing the auditor examination. Mr Schenkel has been a shareholder of DR. DORNBACH & PARTNER GMBH since 1st January 2002.

Mr Schenkel has been a member of the European Executive Committee and the International Executive Committee of GMN International since 2006, and chairs the International Audit Committee.

His main areas of activity are advising medium-sized clients and family businesses and their shareholders on tax law issues of all kinds; particularly in the automotive trade.
